Meet Your Host

Ayisha Jaffer

Ayisha Jaffer can be heard on-air evenings on The Current’s broadcasts throughout the state of Minnesota as well as streaming online. She joined The Current from WNXP Nashville, where she served as Midday Host, Music Director and Assistant Program Director. Prior to WNXP, she was the Afternoon Drive host and Promotions Director at WYMS Radio Milwaukee. She has also worked in music management in the U.S. and New Zealand with artists including Lorde, Cut Copy and Architecture in Helsinki. While living in New Zealand, she got her start in radio at stations 95BFM and Aotea FM.

As an on-air host, she enjoys bringing her experience, knowledge and energy to amplify and highlight artists, creators, and dreamers alike. She’s passionate about using music to pay it forward and connect community. She’s inspired by fellow community-builder Mr. Rogers who said, “let’s make goodness attractive.”

As a world traveler, she believes music knows no boundaries and enjoys meeting music lovers through shared experiences such as international travel, community events and live concerts. Outside of music, she has worked as a park ranger in Alaska, and she enjoys working on wildlife conservation efforts, kayaking and playing music with her band Skux.
